The Souter Lighthouse Trail 10km will return for its 3nd year in 2023 along the beautiful coastline trails. The event will take place on Day 1 (Saturday) of the Souter Lighthouse Summer Running Weekend alongside the South Shields 10 Mile Race. The course will be fully marked & marshalled by our amazing volunteer team - with drinks & refreshments along the way.  

All finishing runners will receive a Souter Lighthouse Trail 10km medal for taking part. (please note that all entries must be made by Wednesday 26th July to receive a medal. Medals can be ordered after the run & sent out) Awards will be provided for first 3 male & female. 

The course passes by Whitburn Nature Reserve, Marsden Rock/Marsden Bay, Frenchman's Bay & has fantastic views overlooking Sandhaven Beach. Keep an eye out for dolphins swimming along the coast! 

The Souter Lighthouse 10km course is 1 full lap set on coastal trail paths & footpaths.

**RACE INFORMATION**

8.30am Car Park & Registration Opens

10am Start

12pm - We do not have a strict cut off time and all runners can complete the course, but we would encourage runners to complete their run by 12pm. All runners to be followed by a tail runner

Course Map - plotaroute.com/route/1570059 - Course is set on National Trust land. Runners do not have right of way and we request common courtesy to other park users.

Number Collection - On the day from 8.30am

Age Limit - 16+ years

Race HQ – Souter Lighthouse, postcode SR67NH

Footwear – Road & trail shoes are both suitable for the course. If very wet we would advise trail shoes.

Headphones – permitted as long as you can also listen out for instructions from marshalls & race organisers at all times.

Water - Please consider bringing your own water/hydration containers to help us to reduce plastic waste. There will be water stations out on the course and at the finish where you can refill. 

Toilets - Available at Souter Lighthouse & at Marsden Grotto Public Toilets (on course). 

UKA Athletics rules - licensed with Trail Running Association

Litter - To protect the coastline, please take any litter home with you or dispose in bins at Souter Lighthouse. If you do need to dispose of litter on the course, please leave it with a marshall and make them aware.

Car parking – Available at Souter Lighthouse site on the field to the North of the Lighthouse. There will be a £3 charge for parking set by The National Trust. Free for national trust members. Please Car Share where possible.
