SOL 3 will take place on Dunalastair Estate by Tummel Bridge, near Kinloch Rannoch and incorporates a Junior Selection Race. FINAL DETAILS along with COURSE LENGTHS available on the Club Website HERE. (Select Tay National Event ).
Dunalastair estate is a classic Highland mix of open moorland, plantation forest and natural woodland, with some very complex contour detail and very few line features. Whilst the estate was previously used for a JK in 2012 and more recently for a SOL in 2015, the competition area this time has not been used since the 1995 Scottish Champs and Breadalbane S6D in 1997 when the vegetation was very dense.
The Controller stresses that the terrain is very physical as well as technically challenging but is at its best now while the bracken and overgrowth is much reduced. Full body protection is nonetheless highly recommended.
Most courses cross one or more streams so expect wet feet! Ticks have been observed in the area this week.
