This half marathon course is almost entirely on road. It starts with a loop of central Truro, and runs out to Porth Kea, Playing Place and Cowlands. Involves a few hills - it's probably not a PB course! Start time 9.30am from Lemon Quay.
This is part of the Cornwall GP series 2023 sponsored by Cornwall Glass - but all are very welcome to run it whether you've done any of the other races or not. Here's a map of the route: https://www.trurorunningclub.org.uk/maps/trurohalf/map-trurohalfmarathon.html
No refunds are offered but places can be transferred to a friend or clubmate (without charge) via the SiEntries system, up to 2359 on 16 September.
The race is chip timed, although race results will be based on gun time. There will be team prizes based on the first six runners home from each affiliated club. The race is run under an ARC permit TBC and UKA licence 2023-46092 and is covered by both ARC's and UKA's insurance.
We are sorting souvenirs buffs for each runner, as well as a goody bag.
Make a weekend of it! If you're from out of county (or even if you're not) come and join us for:
No extra charge, just let us know if you're up for the run on Friday night.
FAQS
What time does the race start?
It starts at 9.30. You can register and pick up your number from 8am onwards - race HQ is at Wetherspoons on Lemon Quay, Truro. On-the-day-entrants can get their bibs from 8.45.
Can I have a refund if I can't run?
You can't have a refund, but you can defer for one year if the race happens in 2024 (up to 15 September - no deferrals after that as your number will have already been sorted). If you prefer you can transer your place to a friend - you can transfer it to them by logging into your SiEntries account. There's no charge for that but you have to sort out the money between the two of you. Please don’t email us about it as we can't transfer it for you, you have to do it yourself via logging in to your own SiEntries account. Please only email us if you want to defer to 2024.
What do I get afterwards?
At the finish line there will be fruit, water, some chocolate, a medal, and also a buff.
Is there a time cut off?
Not formally, as we want the event to be as inclusive as possible, it's definitely not just for club runners. At the same time, please bear in mind our marshals are all volunteers and it would be kind not to make them wait around for hours! As a guide, in the past few years the last finisher has come in between 2hrs 45mins and 3hrs 15mins (that's 15 minutes per mile pace, which is not much quicker than brisk walking pace).
Will there be water stations on the course?
Yes there will be several. If you have your own reuseable race cups please do bring them with you.
Is there a bag drop?
Yes there wiill be, at the entrance to the Pannier Market on Lemon Quay. It won't be locked up though so itis used at your own risk.
Is the course marshalled or might I get lost?
You'll have to try hard to get lost! The course is fully signposted and there will be about 50 marshals supporting you on the day at various points.
Are there road closures?
The first loop around the city centre, and the finish, are on closed roads. Most of the course is on open - but quiet - rural roads.
Where can I park
There is plenty of parking in and around Truro City Centre - just watch out for all the roads that are closed due to the half marathon! But most car parks are within 5 minutes' walk of Race HQ anyway.
