Compulsory Kit
Due to December weather conditions on the day you will be required to carry/wear the minimum below kit:

Trail Marathon & Half Marathon

  • Waterproof Jacket with taped seams
  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Headtorch/torch (marathon only)
  • 500ml of water/sports drink to be carried
  • Route Description/Route map
  • Survival bag
  • Foil blanket
  • Safety pins/race clips/race belt (for attaching race number to yourself)

Both routes cover very exposed areas. The Trail Marathon climbs to the highest part of the North York Moors and stays at this height for several miles. Wind chill and exposure to the elements at this time of year will be very high! The above compulsory kit list is the very minimum you should carry. NO COMPULSORY KIT! NO RUN!

WITHOUT THESE ITEMS OF KIT YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUN!

FAILURE TO CARRY YOUR OWN MANDATORY KIT FOR THE DURATION OF THE EVENT WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION

10K Trail Race

  • Map and Route description
  • Survival bag
  • Foil blanket

No other kit for the 10k, but really recommend, at a minimum, a waterproof jacket, hat and gloves!!

Remember you are running through exposed moorland in December and the conditions can be pretty extreme at times!

Even fast runners can have a bad day and slow down or injure themselves. Extra kit may just save yourself from visiting hypothermia

Route

None of the Hardmoors 26.2 series races will be taped or signed so competitors will be provided with a downloadable race route description and downloadable maps of the course which are to be used.  It is the competitor's responsibility to navigate themselves throughout the course.

There will be foot sweepers for the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k

There are various marshalls out on the course at various road crossings.
If you decide to retire please head for the next checkpoint, where the Marshall will contact one of the race team and we will pick you up and return you back to the start. Please be patient, though, for your lift.
