Our 1st event of the SLOW Mountain Bike Orienteer's 2024 Series.
Based at Thursley Village Hall the course area will use an extensive network of trails around Hankley and Frensham Commons to the North and Devil's Punch Bowl and Ludshott Common to the South. The area is quite sandy so even in March it won't be too muddy.
You’ll be given a marked up OS A3 waterproof map and have 2 or 3 hours to visit as many checkpoints as possible. Plan and navigate your own route. The course is designed for all abilities and you can enter as a solo, pair or family team. For 2024 we're introducing changes that will encourage different route choices for 2 hour and 3 hour courses so that you'll visit plenty of checkpoints on either option.
To participate you will need the MapRun App on your Android or iPhone, or a Garmin Watch with the MapRunG App, or any GPS watch. The course will be sent out the day before the ride & the PIN code issued at the start. It's important not to enter the PIN code until you are ready to go as your time will start as as soon as you do so. If you're new to orienteering and don't have a map board you'll be given a basic one to attach to your bike.
