NI & Ulster Championship Bangor 10k in association with John Minnis Estate Agents

North Down Athletic Club are delighted to be holding the annual Bangor 10k road race. We are also proud to have been selected by Athletics NI to once again host the NI & Ulster Championship 10k, as part of this event.
Race Information
The race will be chip timed. There is no option to complete a ‘virtual run’.
The total prize fund, of over £3,550, will include the usual age category prizes, for both male & female winners. Race rules, including eligibility for individual and team prizes will apply as per UK Athletics rules, and the associated Athletics NI Championship rules.
The race starts in Castle Park, near the front of the City Hall, and finishes in Ward Park. The race is an all-inclusive event, and has attracted Olympians such as Paul Pollock, National Marathon Champion (Irl) Laura Graham, local athletes, new athletes and wheelchair participants in the past.
Water stations will be available at Groomsport, and at the finish line.
Refreshments will be provided after the race in the bowling pavilion, adjacent to the finish line in Ward Park.
Pack Collection will be at Bangor Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex in the lower ground hall on the following dates and times;
Friday 27th September 2024 from 17:00 - 20:00 hrs
Saturday 28th September 2024 from 07:30 - 09:30 hrs
Names changes are available until Thursday 26th September however any name changes after the 17th September will have the original entry name printed on the number/bib. Any new entries after 17th September will have no personalisation on the number/bib.
To make a name change, all you have to do is log-in to your SiEntries registration for the event and update the participant details. Please make sure to update all sections including name, age category (date of birth), gender, and club details.
Please note refunds will not be offered for this event unless cancelled by the event organiser. This is due the event financial commitments, irrespective of the number of race participants.
Facilities
Changing facilities, including showers, are available at Bangor Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex. Toilets are also located in the Leisure Centre, as well as public toilets and portaloos at the start area.
Free car parking is available at the Aurora Leisure Complex, near the start area at Castle Park, or close to the finish at Ward Park. There are also a number of paid-for carparks nearby. Please allow plenty of time to park and make your way to the start line.
Route
The route is fairly flat and fast, with a short hill around 9k. The route starts in Castle Park, close to the front of the Town Hall, and makes its way through Bangor town centre before heading out along the coast and countryside to Groomsport. The route will loop through Groomsport once again meeting the coast for the penultimate kilometre back to Bangor. The finish area is in Ward Park in Bangor, where there is plenty of space to rest and enjoy the atmosphere. Please note, the roads are not closed to traffic so follow marshals’ instructions. Why not ask to family and friends to come along and support along the route!
Safety
The race is held under Athletics NI Permit and has been accurately measured. Participants must be 15 years or over on race day. Roads are open to traffic. In line with UK Athletics Rules, the wearing of headphones is NOT permitted. Any athlete wearing headphones during the race will be disqualified. Bone conduction headphones like AfterShokz are the only headphones permitted for use in road races.
Please note for Health & Safety reasons, runners will not be allowed to compete pushing buggies or prams. In line with UK Athletics Rules runners must not be accompanied by a dog in the race.
