If you’re looking for a serious challenge, this is it. Inspired by the great sky races of Europe, Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra™ is one of the most technically demanding course-marked race's the Lake District has ever seen. Entries are NOT vetted for this ultra-distance route, taking in Striding and Swirral Edge's.
Classified by Skyrunning UK as a "Sky Extra" race in 2018, Lakes Sky Ultra is officially the most extreme mountain running event in England.

57km of Lake District paths, trails and rock with 3700m ascent will test your endurance to the limit - but stamina alone won’t get you to the finish line.
You’ll need a good head for heights and nerves of steel: you’re going to traverse three of the most amazing ridge-lines in the Lake District: The bone shaking and very wild ridge of Long Stile Edge and the very alpine and rocky scramble of Swirral Edge and of course the EPIC Striding Edge. We’re talking serious ascent with some distance thrown in and previous race/mountain experience is a must.

Entry requirements
You must be at least 19 years old on race day to enter Helvellyn Sky Ultra.
Enter below where we advise it is wise to have completed one or more of the following races or UK challenges:
- Completion of several named mountain races or mountain runs within the past 5 years, of 30 miles/50km or more, and of similar severity to Lakes Sky Ultra. In the UK, this may include Lakeland 50, Keswick Mountain Festival 50km, V3K, Ring of Steal, Ben Nevis Ultra, Lakes in a Day, Tour de Helvellyn;
- Significant mountain experience, allowing runners who haven't completed any races in the last 5 years a chance to take part . We will consider all mountain challenges such as the Dennis Rankin, Bob Graham Round, Ramsay Round, Paddy Buckley Round and more.
