Level D local orienteering event on open fell at Faulds Brow, 2km west of Caldbeck, in the northern fells. Suitable for both experienced orienteers and novices of all ages.
Pre-entry available on all courses. For Yellow and Orange courses there will be some entry on the day, subject to map availability (£8 senior, £3 junior, extra maps £1).
Parking
Registration, Enquiries and Download are in the quarry car park situated on a minor road 2km west of Caldbeck, with parking adjacent. Grid Ref: NY 304 406. W3W: pilots.gems.widgets
Courses (length and climb)
Brown 8.1km, 115m
Blue 5.9km, 85m
Green 4.6km, 70m
Short Green 3.5km, 60m
Very Short Green 2.7km, 45m **See note below
Orange 2.4km, 50m
Yellow/Novice 2.1km, 35m
**Very Short Green - this is the same course as Short Green but with a cut off. If you want to do Very Short Green, enter Short Green and pick up a Short Green Map at the start. The map will show which controls to miss. You can decide while on the course whether to take the Very Short Green cut-off.
Map
Brown and Blue use a 1:10000 scale map. All other courses use a 1:7,500 scale map. 5m contours. Control Descriptions will be printed on the map. Rough Open is marked as white (there are no areas of woodland).
Groups and Pairs / Extra Maps
If you are new to orienteering and would like to go round as a group or in a pair, just enter one person and use the option to select any additional maps that your group would like at £1 each.
Dibber Hire
Available by pre-order at no charge, £30 if not returned. To pre-order, leave the SI number blank during entry process, and then collect dibber from Enquiries/Download on the day.
Start and Finish
Between 11:00 and 12:30. The start is located about 150m from Registration/Download, and the finish is about 400m
