Join us on the 4th Calder Divide Trail weekend as we tackle the only route in the British Isles to trace the watershed of a river. For the rider on  gravel bike or mountain bike that means you weave your way across ‘12 valleys, 6 moors and 1 floodplain’ on paths of gravel, peat and stone that were once trading routes for coal, lead, salt and wool and have been part of the landscape for over 800 years.

The event will have four circular routes:

Gravel Routes:  'Washlands' - 145 miles / 235km

                               'Coxley' - 100 miles / 160km

MTB Routes:  'Whirlaw' - 155 miles / 250km

                           'Chelburn' - 100 miles / 160km

Each route starts by taking you through the park in Hebden Bridge, up through the oak woods and then wave after wave of Pennine moor. Each of the 4 routes passes over the dam head at Ogden, along the Spen Valley Greenway, over to Shepley then down the steep descent of Wessenden Valley to arrive at Marsden with its many cafes and pubs and all four routes go over Marsden Moor via the Eastergate Packhorse Bridge.

The four routes differ in how far downstream a rider travels with the 2 short routes crossing the Calder on bridges around Dewsbury and the two long routes travelling all the way down to Castleford where the Calder merges with the Aire.  In addition the mtb routes go over Midgley Moor in the Calder Valley (and down an 'Enduro' style descent) whilst the gravel routes goes around the foot of Midgley Moor on framers double tracks.
