We are very excited to bring you the inaugural Scafell Sky Ultra, a technical sky ultra distance trail race played out in the Central and Southern Lakes
62km of mountain terrain and 4400m ascent: Scafell Sky Ultra is played out on technical, single-track trails from start to finish. It’s a Lake District journey that will test the endurance and stamina of experienced and aspiring mountain ultra athletes.
This is the race route to equal the best mountain ultras in the world, right in the heart of the English Lake District
The SCAFELL SKY ULTRA is what you have been waiting for Lake District Sky Trails. This mountain sky ultra will make your mind, body and soul will for it to continue and stop at the same time.
Building on the Scafell Sky Race and the Helvellyn Sky Ultra, the team at LDST have come up with a corker of a route. In usual style think; A roller coaster of a route, uber technical trails to 'live for', ridge-lines to excite the most excitable of skyrunners, the highest summit in England and to top it all off, a whopping 4400m route profile in just 60km.

Entry requirements
You must be at least 19 years old on race day to enter Scafell Sky Ultra.
Entries are not vetted: however, Scafell Sky Ultra is much more than your average trail run, this is a fully fledged Mountain Ultra Race and we expect you to come fully prepared. You will be tackling 62km of steep and technical terrain, and you will need to be a skilled and confident mountain runner to make the course cut-offs and complete the route. We will ask you to detail your relevant running/racing experience at the point of entry, and this may include:
- Longer, technical trail races such as Keswick Mountain Festival 25 or 50km;
- Other vetted or unvetted skyraces, e.g. Ring of Steall Sky Race, Mourne Skyline, V3K etc;
- ‘Long’ category fell or hill races;
- Skyrunning skills training courses with Mountain Run or elsewhere.
Included in your entry fee:
- Fully marked course
- 4 fully-supplied feed station and *** manned checkpoints
- A finishers’ Seed Bomb Medal - so when you have had enough if it, just plant it and wild flowers will grow!
- Electronic timing & tracking from Open Tracking
- A professional Safety Officer and supporting safety team
- A professionally planned event delivered by an highly experienced team
- A 'Tour de Force' of the Central and Southern Lakeland Fells, taking in the highest mountain in England
