The Survival is a friendly event open to runners and walkers based on an orienteering course, we are amalgamating the event onto a single route this year of around 24 miles, to be completed within a time limit.
The event can be completed as an individual or as part of a group. There will be a series of checkpoints identified by a grid reference and description. Your aim is to visit each checkpoint and via point in the order given on the route card.
As its name suggests this is not an event to be taken lightly. The time of year means the weather can be inclement, the route takes in the highs and lows of the North York Moors and requires you to be able to navigate and take care of yourself.
Checkpoints are manned by Search and Rescue personnel with drinks available at some and a hot meal provided for all at the finish. We ask that you bring a mug with you to reduce our landfill!
The following kit is considered essential; Map and compass, Emergency Food, Survival bag, Whistle, windproofs and full waterproofs. You will also need a mug for your drinks at pit stops!
The event is one of the major fundraisers for the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team. This event is widely embraced by the local community as a way of funding a voluntary organisation which benefits the public.
Event location will be sent out around 1 week before the event.
Dogs are not allowed on the event, this is a requirement for our permissions for this event..
This years Survival will be the 40th running of the event and during the 60th year of the existence of Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team.
Thank you for your continued support.
