Local Tay event with a challenge for some...
The Knock of Crieff is a hill so route choice to minimise climb could be important! There is a good path network but off the paths there are some areas of heather and bracken as well some steep slopes. Good gripping footwear is essential on most courses.
If you are not sure which is the best course for you the following guidance should help:
Yellow is the easiest course and all on tracks and paths. It is good for younger/ primary age children accompanied by an adult or younger children who are regular orienteers.
Orange is great for adult beginners and more confident youngsters ( age 12 plus).
Short Green is for those with some orienteering and navigation experience but a less physical course.
Green is for experienced navigators and regular orienteers.
Green CONTOUR only is for experienced orienteers and strong navigators. Most line features such as paths and tracks are removed from the map leaving the contours, some vegetation and features like crags and boulders on the map.
The start block is between 11am and 12 noon. You can start at anytime within that period.
The Knock is popular with dog walkers and the occasional mountain bikers so please take care and be considerate to other users.
