NAV4 Lakes in A Day Recce - Ambleside to Cartmel

Once again, Joe Faulkner and his NAV4 team will be hosting these recce days on behalf of Durty Events. This is your chance to recce a section of the route in the company of other LiAD participants and with experienced NAV4 tutors / LiAD guides, with free transport provided.  

NAV4 have a long association with the event having hosted the recces for many years and provide mountain safety cover during the event itself.  We know the event inside out, taken part ourselves, and know what works and what mistakes people make. 

The day will include lots of information about the event, suitable clothing gear and shoe choices, what to eat and drink, navigation and route advice, event strategy and training methods. 

Transport is provided before each recce from the finish point to the start. Transport will generally depart at 8:00am, with the recce starting around 9am.  Exact meeting places and other details to be confirmed in your 'Final Info' email sent the week before.  

This first recce is Section Three of the event, and is the flatter and lower second half. Total distance is around 22miles and 2000' of ascent. The terrain is mainly good trail, some lanes and very little rough or wet ground.  The navigation is easy if you stay on top of it, but as many people do this section in the dark, it's easy to mess up!
