Now in its 12th year, the Wharfedale Three Peaks Challenge Event includes three routes ranging from 17 to 4.5 miles starting from the picturesque village of Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales. This event is hosted by the local mountain rescue team - Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association - as their annual fundraising event.

Taking place in the beautiful Wharfedale valley this friendly charity event offers competitors of all ages a suitable challenge. All proceeds from the event go to supporting the operational costs of running the rescue team.

There are three courses to choose from; all starting and ending in Kettlewell village.

1.            Three Peaks route – 17 miles / 3800ft – Birks/Firth Fell, Buckden Pike and Great Whernside.

2.            Two Peaks route – 13 miles / 2500ft – Buckden Pike and Great Whernside

3.            Family Walk – 4.5 miles / 300ft

The three and two peak routes are open to walkers and runners of good fitness and offer spectacular views over Upper Wharfedale. The current course record for the Three Peaks route is an astonishing 2hrs 9 mins set by Oli Murphy in 2024!

The 4.5 mile family walk is suitable for families and those wanting an easier day. The route follows the Dalesway to Starbottom along the River Wharfe before heading back to Kettlewell at slightly higher elevation along the ‘Paradise Walk’, offering spectacular views across the valley.  There will also be an opportunity to have a look at our Landrovers and the equipment we use at the end of the course.

Water stations will be at Buckden village and Tor Dike road crossing but please bring a water container.

Entry fee includes; parking at the event, pie and a commemorative medal for the 2 and 3 peak entrants.

Tea and coffee will be available on the field and there will also be a fantastic cake stall on the day with all proceeds going to the team.

Unfortunately no dogs other than on the valley walk.
