Golden 50 (Essex and Herts 50th Anniversary Celebration 50 mile Event)
50 miles in 22 hours
A figure of eight covering 25 miles in each county, on good footpaths, bridleways, and green lanes, from the beautiful village of Manuden, three miles inside the Essex border. Heading west into rural Herts, the first loop takes in Patmore Heath, then the Rib and Ash Valleys back to Manuden. The Essex loop heads north towards Clavering and returns via the quaint villages of Arkesden, Wicken Bonhunt and Quendon.

The Village Community Centre is conveniently located, with the M11, Stansted Airport and Bishop’s Stortford railway stations (direct trains to London and Cambridge) all within a 15 minute drive away. Large car park on site.
Distance: 50 miles
Start times: Walkers from 8.30am, Runners from 10.00am (all to finish by 6.30am Sunday)
Six well placed Checkpoints offering drinks, sandwiches, and snacks, with lunch (33 miles) and an early Sunday breakfast at Manuden at the finish. Certificate to all finishers plus celebration souvenirs
Entry limit 180. Entries close Monday 21st July 2025 or earlier if limit reached.
