Our classic 8.5 miles Race The Light will be back in Mothecombe on the Erme Estuary, and again there is a half marathon option too.
Start times subject to change of 15-20 minutes depending on weather and tidal conditions on Raceday. As it is difficult to coincide tide times with sunset, we expect almost everyone to make it before dark but a head torch is mandatory.
The HALF MARATHON : Starts at 11am
The CLASSIC 8.5-mile Race The Light: Starts at 11:40am
The Classic has 8.5 miles of shadowy estuarine trails, meandering through the privately owned Flete Estate. There’s a double crossing of the River Erme estuary so it’s a race against the light.. and the tide. So wet feet from the off!
The Classic race starts on the estuary slipway and finishes at the SchoolhouseDevon restaurant, high above the estuary, then downhill to the river crossing before heading into the Flete Estate. The race finishes with a second crossing of the estuary before a steep uphill ascent to the finish.
The Half Marathon route will cross the Erme estuary on the return journey only. It will include sections of the Classic route but without the two woodland loops, but.. with a feisty five-mile foray down onto the South West Coast Path, before veering west, back to the estuary at Wonwell for a final crossing (hopefully before the tide is in..). 3.25 hour cut-off for the second crossing!
Each finisher will receive a bespoke Race The Light medal.
The course will be fully marked and marshalled. First aid on course and at HQ.
Dogs are not permitted with runners during the race.
