Registration and Walk HQ is the Ardgay Community Centre, Carron Place, Ardgay, Sutherland IV24 3BQ. Coach transfer is included in the entry fee and coaches will leave the Centre at 07.00 to take walkers to the start in Ullapool.
Starting on the west coast in Ullapool, this is an absolutely stunning walk. Splash in the Atlantic Ocean then follow the route east via three checkpoints: at Knockdamph Bothy (approx, 12.5 miles), Schoolhouse Bothy, Duag Bridge (19 miles) and Croik (27 miles) finishing on the east coast at the Ardgay Community Centre (36 miles) where you can splash in the waters of the Dornoch Firth. At the finish a hot meal will be waiting for you.
The walk is not technical, but is strenuous incorporating 630m (2,107ft) of ascent, mainly on easy paths and tracks.
Please note that there is a small river crossing which may be challenging in very wet weather. There will be marshals to aid walkers, if necessary, at this point.
Registration will be from 06.00 in the Hall at Ardgay or from 07.00 by the Harbour in Ullapool for those staying on the west coast. (There will be no discount for those not taking up the option of the coach transfer). Anyone not ticking the 'coach transfer required' box will be assumed to be registering in Ullapool and a place will not be allocated on the coach.
A final route description and gpx file will be available by the end of March 2025.
Public transport is available to Ardgay and Ullapool and there are lots of accommodation options at both ends. Why not make a short break of it?
