Beyond the Lune is the brain child of Stu Taylor a seasoned endurance athlete, completing in some of the worlds toughest multi day endurance running and bike packing events. These 2 trail runs have been designed to test you at your level, social runner, competitor or who knows this could be the first step on your way to completing your first ultra! 

Stu has created two trail running  routes: a 15km and 25km  to showcase the beauty of his local area of Kirkby Lonsdale reaching the top of his the local summit’s . Both routes have some on and off road sections.

Both routes start and finish directly on the door step of The Barn home to the brilliant Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery and  delicious Coffee Roasters. At the start of the event you will get a free pastry and fresh roasted coffee by Stu, then awaiting you at the finish a pint of one of Kirkby Lonsdale's finest beers and a sweet treat!  (age dependant)

The options

15km / 9 mile with 500m ascent

 Start Time 10am

This years route aims to get you high quickly using footpaths and bridleways heading out towards Barbon, climbing up and taking in three local summits before dropping you back down to river level, where you will make your way back to the legendary 99 steps for that final leg burner before you finish!

25km / 15 mile with 770m of ascent

Start time 10.am

The years route just over the half marathon distance, usings footpaths and bridleways to reach Barbon Terrace, the climb to the first summit cairn starts here, there are 3 cairns along this section before you drop back down into Barbon and through the woods towards the wash tubs. A long climb up to your second summit the highest point and then over to the last cairn of Bullpot / Brownthwaite and a view looking out over the Lune Valley and the mountainous Lake District, on a clear day you can see Blackpool Tower from here! A quick catch of your breath and its all downhill to the famous Devils Bridge and along the river for your last test the legendary 99 steps for a final leg burner before you finish! 

Note :

Cut off time for both runs is 2pm for both runs 

Under 16's allowed if running with an parent / guardian
