Welcome to the Cumbrian Galoppen race at Great Tower. Great Tower provides wooded terrain with complex contour detail and many rock features. There is a sparse path network, mainly centred around the group of buildings in the South of the area, and few other line features. Rocky ridges tend to form parallel valleys. Only larger rock features are generally mapped. There is much sloping rock: Crags are shown only where the rock is near-vertical. Smaller paths can be obscured by leaf litter and hard to see. There are various un-mapped temporary (and not-so-temporary) structures in the terrain, used for outdoor activities.
The usual range of Galoppen courses will be available from Yellow to Brown. More details are available on the LOC website at https://www.lakeland-orienteering.org.uk/events.
