VOLUNTEERING TO MARSHAL AT THE SMALL PARK BIG RUN 

 

Thank you for offering to volunteer to help us put on small park BIG RUN. If this is your first time - welcome - small park BIG RUN is a joyous community event and a celebration of Palestine. We are now in our 9th year.  If you are coming back for more - thank you! Without our volunteers the event cannot run: its success depends on you helping it be a welcoming, inclusive and event safe for all.

 

spBR is a unique, fun, 24-hour running community challenge in Meersbrook Park, Sheffield we raise awareness of and funds for women’s education and children’s mental health in Palestine.  

 

The situation for Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank has deteriorated terribly since October 2023. Aside from the awful killing - in Gaza over 60000 people have been killed among them over 40000 children - the destruction of civil and cultural life has been overwhelming. The International Court of Justice has found it plausible that Israel's acts could amount to genocide.  

 

By participating you can display solidarity, empathy and friendship with the people of Palestine, help give them strength to continue resisting and send a message that people of conscience around the world have not forgotten them. 

The charities we raise money for will now be needed more than ever. As we write this, the Trump administration is declaring how it will force the evacuation of Gaza  and our support to help Palestinians resist this and try to rebuild their lives is crucial.  Details of how to fund-raise for these projects can be found here.  

So, please help us out by signing up to marshal.  To sign up click on the green "Enter Online" button at the top of the page which will take you through the registration process.  

 

Towards the end of the personal details form and before you choose your timeslots you will be asked "Are you on Whatsapp?". If you are, please check this box as it will help us communicate with you immediately before and during the event (but do not worry if you are not on whatsapp).  

 

You can choose, via the "Time Slot" dropdown list, either to choose your timeslots during registration or to say that you will choose them later: .  PLEASE, if you can, choose your timeslots during registration as this helps us enormously to ensure that we have enough marshals for every slot. If you opt to choose later we will send regular emails with a Heatmap showing how many marshals we have registered for each slot.

 

At the end of the sign up process you can also make a donation.

If you aren't going to be with us on the Sunday, please try to join us on a zoom when we will be broadcasting a mass sing - involving six choirs, the runners and their families and anyone else who wants to join in - from the park to the children in Gaza.
