This tough, little endurance event attracts swimmers from around the UK who want the challenge of swimming overnight - one mile or half a mile - every hour for 12 hours non stop. Simples! All this in a uber-lovely (warm) Cheshire lake.
Swimmers complete either one or two 750m laps of the lake then exit the water before recovering to do it all again, on the hour, for 12 hours. Phew!
Distances: Soloists or relay teams (2-3 peeps ) swim either one mile or half-mile on the hour for 12 hours non-stop.
Timings: Parking / Registration / camping chair set-up: From 6:30pm. Swim Start (all): 8.00pm
'Swimmers Rest' Area: Tents / camper vans are not required for participants due to the almost continuous nature of the 12 Hour Challenge. There will, however, be a tented, sheltered area provided where swimmers can place a comfortable camping chair to use as a resting place for the duration of the event.
No Land Support Required: Swimmers must come on their own and are not permitted any support. There will be plenty of people at the event to offer assistance as required.
Parking: Free at the venue and will be located on the Lake access road.
Facilities: Covered gazebo area (four x 6x3m water proof gazebos, changing cabin. Hot showers. Heated water urn to supply your own refreshments
Event Info: Event water safety is provided for the duration of the event so there's no need to source your own.
Due to the available space NO LAND SUPPORT IS PERMITTED.
A towfloat is also required to be attached at all times - day and night - with the towfloat needing to be illuminated in the dark.
You need to bring:
Swim caps / Swim gear / towels / lots of warm clothing layers
Illuminated towfloat
Camping chair (as comfortable as possible) *NO TENTS / MOTORHOMES permitted*
