This is the 10th Anniversary Edition of the HAMELDOWN HAMMER Half-Marathon - Dartmoor's biggest and best trail half marathon with over 800m of ascent. It's also the 9th Edition of the Hameldown 7EVEN - ‘The Very Long 10k’.. the route since 2024 has been increased to 8 miles 

The Hameldown 7EVEN has in excess of 450m of ascent and still includes a double ascent of the Hameldown ridge.

New for 2026.. The HAMMER ULTRA will go far and wide, taking in much of the original HAMMER route but with excursions out east, west and north across some of Dartmoor's most iconic moorland tors.

The races start and finish in the village of Widecombe-In-The-Moor, at the foot of the Hameldown ‘massif’ and surrounded by some of Dartmoor’s most iconic granite landscapes.

The HAMMER trails are a series of well-defined, grassy, rocky, sometimes muddy tracks with occasional forays through forestry glades. Most significantly, there is a double ascent of the Hameldown Ridge for each distance.

The HAMELDOWN HAMMER, 7EVEN & ULTRA rise high and steep. They afford spectacular views of the Moor and Tors, with some of the best trail running Dartmoor has to offer.

• Ultra Hammer starts at 8:00am (subject to pre-advised change of 30 minutes)
• Hammer Half starts at 10:00am
• 7EVEN starts at 10:30am 

Both the HAMMER HALF & 7EVEN courses will be fully marked and marshalled. First aid on course and at HQ.

The HAMMER ULTRA will be partially marked, part self-nav. GPX files and map will be available to download from the website. ULTRA runners will be GPS-tracked. There will be a strict 8.5 hours maximum time limit for the HAMMER ULTRA, with cut-offs enforced at Aid Stations.

Dogs are not permitted with runners during the race.
