Laggan Enduro – Round #1 - Tartan Enduro Series 2025

Scotland’s biggest grassroots Enduro series is here, with four incredible locations coming together to create the Tartan Enduro Series 2025! From brand-new race venues to fan-favourite trails, this is going to be an unreal season of racing! With epic trails, tough competition and a buzzing atmosphere, this is an Enduro series designed for everyone, from first-timers to seasoned shredders.

We’re kicking off the Tartan Enduro Series with a banger of a first round at Laggan on the 18th May! This is a brand-new race venue for DoonThaBrae Events, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring Enduro racing to these legendary trails! Laggan is known for its fast, flowy descents on one side and other the other technical sections and epic natural terrain, all well cared by the fantastic Laggan Dig Crew & Laggan Wolftrax Centre! A perfect way to start Scotland’s biggest grassroots Enduro series!

For those new to it, an enduro mountain bike race is where riders are timed in downhill stages, with neutral transfer stages (climbs!) in between. Enduro routes are aimed to be rideable by reasonably competent mountain bikers, with the lite being slightly easier, both technically and endurance wise. The Laggan full route is around 32km long, with 1200m of climb and includes 7 timed single track stages. The lite route omits the trickiest stages, making it a bit shorter and with less climb. If you’re new to this location, or riding in enduros, plenty of local coaching and guiding companies will be able to help you get familiar with the area and provide some useful riding tips, before the race.

Our one day events have a fun and friendly atmosphere. We attract all levels of rider, from the seriously competitive, to those just looking for a brilliant day in the hills in good company. We have a wide range of categories and we are proud to be the only Scottish Enduro event offering a proper enduro experience for 9-12 year old riders. Afterwards you’ll be able to catch up with friends old and new in the event village and pick up some tasty hot food and drinks from the Laggan Wolftrax cafe, which will be running a BBQ. So make sure to bring a card or some change!

Race Categories

The 2025 Tartan Enduro Series has both conventional and ebike options for a range of male and female  age groups, as well as an open hardtail category. We also offer lite categories (which are less demanding technically and endurance-wise) for male, female and youths (9-12 year olds, accompanied by an adult chaperone). All categories have trophies and prizes for the top three finishers provided by our valued sponsors, all of whom are Scottish businesses, covering all your biking needs, including sales & services, clothing, coaching and even food and accessories for your trail dog!

A huge shout out to  Clarkies Campers for sponsoring and designing the awesome race plates for this years series. And massive thanks to Static Bikes for providing race barrier tape we use to mark the course and to Deviate Cycles for sponsoring the water & food stop, out on the course.

Start Times

We have dedicated start times for the events and when you register you’ll be able to pick a start time. Please arrive at registration roughly a hour prior to your chosen start time and be aware that if you come too early you will be turned away. Please arrive at the start line 10 mins prior to your chosen start time. Please stick to your start time, this will ensure the day goes smoothly and we don’t end up with massive queues at the top of each stage, something no one wants!

Age and Race Capacity Limits

Entrants need to be a minimum of nine years old on the day of the event. Your entry category will be based on your age on the 1st January 2025, although eight year olds who have turned nine by the date of an event may enter it as a Youth (see below).  Youth riders (and their chaperone) will be set off together after the remainder of the field and may, although not required, ride together in a group for mutual support.

We have an overall rider limit of 350 participants. We sold out last year and we expect to do so again. So sign up soon not to miss out!

Youths

  • Each youth rider must have an adult chaperone
  • The chaperone must accompany the youth to race registration
  • The chaperone can only look after a maximum of two youth riders.
  • The chaperone will ride behind the youth participant and be available to take care of any issues with the youth e.g. bike problems, injuries or withdrawals
  • Youth riders plus chaperones will set off shortly after the main group and complete the lite route, which misses out the most challenging stage from the main route.

Support Needed

Join us as a Volunteer Marshal and be a crucial part of the action! Whether you're a seasoned racer or just love the thrill of mountain biking, this is your chance to get involved, support the riders, and experience the buzz of the event whilst creating a memorable experience for all participants. No experience required and lots of different roles available, for more detail head to our website at: https://www.doonthabrae.com/volunteer. The  2025 Tartan Enduro Series marshals' food & drink have been sponsored by Shoreland Lodges. Lost Loch Spirits have provided the prizes for the marshals' draw held for each race. Make sure you get signed up to be in with the chance to win!

Trails and Charities Support

We will be making a donation per participant for every event towards developing, improving and sustaining trails in that location. For the Laggan Enduro we will be donating to the Laggan Dig Crew. Entrants will also be able to make their own voluntary donation to Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) during online event entry.
