A practical workshop in the heart of the South Downs National Park for any runner looking to step onto the trails for the first time.
Through a mixture of classroom based activities and practical time out on the trail, gain skills and experience to help you feel confident:
Choosing and finding your way on off-road routes
Selecting and carrying the right kit to enjoy your run and be safe
Moving effectively off-road; up and downhill, on mud, rock and grass
The south of England is blessed with miles of beautiful, varied, undulating trails and plenty of trail races to choose from. It can also be an effective training ground for races in the wilder areas of the UK such as Wales, the Lakes, The Moors and the Peaks. Perhaps you want to compete in your first ultra and that means moving over to the trail, alternatively you may wish to start running off-road so as to feel a little closer to nature whilst exercising or possibly you have seen a particular trail event which has sparked your imagination. Whatever the reason, this half day workshop will equip you to begin this journey feeling confident and excited about the wonderful opportunities trail running presents.
