A very runnable tour of the east side of the Duddon Valley to help break up the school holidays. The nav's fairly straightforward, the lines are fast and, aside form the Old Man, the fells are quiet.
All entrants must have fell-running experience and the ability to use a map & compass accurately.
ENTRY LIMIT is 200 runners.
THERE WILL BE NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY
PARKING and REGISTRATION will be at Turner Hall Farm. There will be a £3 charge to park - please bring the correct change.
KIT CHECK for all runners will take place at registration prior to collecting numbers. All runners must carry the minimum FRA mandatory kit regardless of the weather. No kit, no race.
RACE NUMBERS must be clearly displayed on the front of your vest and not folded in any way, as per FRA rules - runners wearing their numbers incorrectly will not be allowed to start.
All CHECK POINTS must be visited in-turn. It is the runner's responsibility to ensure their number is visible to the checkpoint marshals.
RUNNING/WALKING POLES are not permitted.
NAVIGATION is by traditional map & compass only - as per FRA rules. The use of any GPS device is forbidden apart from in an emergency and the runner must then declare themselves non-competitive at the finish.
CUT-OFFS: there will be an 85 minute cut-off on Grey Friar - GR NY 2600 0040. This will be strictly enforced and may be reduced in the event of bad weather.
WATER will be available, but please bring your own cups
TEAM PRIZES: first three men and first three women to count.
RESULTS will be available on ukresults.net after the race.
NO REFUNDS are available for this event. Substitutions can be made until entries close at 0900 on Tuesday 5th August.
All PROCEEDS from race entries and parking will be donated to Alzheimer's Research UK.
In order to reduce the number of marshals required Swirl How has been permanently dropped from the race route. This shortens the route and reduces the ascent by only a small amount, so the current records will stand.
