Saturday afternoon countryside Spunch from the Robin Hood Inn, Church Lane, Rainow, Macclesfield SK10 5XE.
1/2/3 hour score course options (choose on the day itself). Parking, Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Food & Drink all at or near the pub. Daylight countryside Spunch for runners & walkers on the Western edge of the Peak District. Family friendly & dog friendly too.
We return to the Robin Hood Inn where we enjoyed a wet n cold day in Feb 24! Same pub - but a different area! This time we will take you further north & east. Hopefully the weather in early May will be kinder to us and maybe even warm enough to enjoy the sunny outside deck at the pub post-Spunch.
Run, jog or walk - suitable for trail runners, park runners, road runners, fell runners, adventure racers, orienteers, walkers, newcomers, and families alike. 3k to 33k, the choice is yours! Great for families and friends to do together. Suitable for all ages and abilities - lots of help available for newcomers. Newcomers & locals are always very welcome. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
Start at your convenience anytime between 12pm & 2pm. (Last start for the 3 hour course 130pm). Registration open from 12pm.
Navigating with an enlarged and enhanced 1:12,500 OS Explorer map, visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, S-punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch.
Explore the area's rich network of excellent trails, paths and lanes. You can expect some hills in parts of the area - for which you will be rewarded with some great views. Will you head north to the tranquil Harrop Wood to (hopefully) see the Bluebell display and the babbling Harrop Brook? Or maybe further east into Todd Brook Valley. A visit to Jenkin Chapel maybe - via the brutal Back Lane? Even locals will likely discover new paths and places!
Great food and drink available back at the Robin Hood Inn after your run / walk - possibly outside on the sunny deck? The pub is very family-friendly. Well behaved dogs welcome too.
The venue is just east of Macclesfield - about 30 mins from M6 J17/18/19; M56 J5/6; and M60 J3/4. It is particularly convenient for Macclesfield, Bollington, Poynton, Bramhall, Hazel Grove, Disley, New Mills, Whaley Bridge, Buxton, Congleton, Alderley Edge & Wilmslow etc.
With the course being curated by local legends Clare & Rik Griffin, you can expect to be shown the highlights of the area, be they good views, nice paths or savage ascents / descents!
With around 60-80 Spunchpoints to go for - how many will you bag?
Hope you will come along and give it a go.
