She Who Walks: Castle Bolton Loop

Longer Walk: 8.5 miles – 1200ft of ascent
We will meet at the car park at Castle Bolton. From there we will follow rights of way up to Black Hill. It's quite a climb but we'll take our time and the views are worth it!
From this point on our walk is almost entirely on tracks. We have a gentle ascent for a couple of miles before turning towards Greenhaw Hut where we will stop for lunch.
Our return walk will run gently down the Peatmoor Lane before returning to Castle Bolton.
This is a great walk for practising our pacing skills for anyone interested in that element of navigation.
Mandatory Kit:
- Walking boots/shoes and thick socks
- Full length trousers as some sections of the path could be overgrown. Jeans are not recommended.
- Waterproof jacket and trousers
- Warm hat and gloves
- Spare top layer in your pack
- Snacks and drinks in an easy to find section of your bag. We recommend bringing at least 500ml of drinks with you per person.
- Fully charged mobile phone
- Any personal medication needed
- A comfortable back pack to carry your own kit. You may wish to consider putting things inside a plastic bag or other waterproof bag inside your back pack
- Money for the car park
- Packed Lunch.
