After the successful return of The South Shields 10 Mile Race in 2021, we will return in 2022 with our fantastic course along the beautiful coast of South Shields. The race has been a sell-out every year & we encourage early registration to guarantee your place.
Starting at Souter Lighthouse, the course heads North along the beautiful South Shields coastline and The Leas before returning back to the Lighthouse.
Look out for beautiful views of Marsden Rock, Frenchman's Bay, Sandhaven Beach & of course Souter Lighthouse!
The hugely popular South Shields 10 is a fantastic challenge on multi terrain, including trails and coastal paths.
All finishing runners will receive a South Shields 10 Mile medal for taking part. Awards will be provided for first 3 male & female.
**RACE INFORMATION**
7.30am Car Parking & Registration Opens (Number Collection on Day)
9am Start Time
11.30am - No strict cut off time - runners will be followed by our tail runner & we would encourage all runners to aim to complete the course by 11.45am.
Course Map - plotaroute.com/route/1626402 - Course is set on National Trust land. Runners do not have right of way and we request common courtesy to other park users.
Race HQ – Souter Lighthouse, postcode SR67NH
Age Limit - 17 years + to take part
Footwear – Road & trail shoes are both suitable for the course. If very wet we would advise trail shoes.
Headphones – permitted as long as you can also listen out for instructions from marshalls & race organisers at all times.
Water - Please consider bringing your own water/hydration containers to help us to reduce plastic waste. There will be water stations out on the course and at the finish line where you can refill.
Toilets - Available at Souter Lighthouse & on the course nearby Marsden Grotto.
UKA Athletics rules - licensed with Trail Running Association
Car parking – Available at Souter Lighthouse site on the field to the North of the Lighthouse. There will be a £3 charge for parking set by The National Trust. Free for national trust members. Please Car Share where possible.
Transfers will be available until 31/07/22. Log in to your SiEntries account to amend your entry. We are unable to offer refunds or deferrals but do allow transfers up until the week of the race. Thank you for supporting our small local business & run club.
