Grasmere Gallop Marathon will take place on Sunday 4th June 2023 starting at 07:30am.

Grasmere Gallop Marathon

A beautiful, fully way marked trail route looping around Grasmere and neighbouring valleys with stunning views including Alcock Tarn, Rydal Hall, Loughrigg Tarn, Loughrigg summit, Rydal caves, Great Langdale valley, Stickle Tarn and Easedale Tarn.

The route is a challenging one, with approximately 6252 feet of ascent, but you'll be rewarded with a great Lakeland day out, a locally made Langdale slate medal and of course, cake...

Registration for the Marathon will be open on Friday 2nd June 15:00 - 22:00, Saturday 3rd June 07:00 - 17:00 and Sunday 4th June 06:00 - 07:00.

There will be a Drinks Station with cold drinks (squash/water) at approximately Mile 4 at the entrance to Rydal Hall, and at approximately Mile 11.3 at the turn along Rydal Water plus a Checkpoint with Drinks and Snacks (jelly babies/bananas/flapjack (GF)) at approximately Mile 17.7 at Sticklebarn Tavern.

The Event starts at 07:30, with a cut off time at Sticklebarn Tavern of 6 hours 15 minutes. You must have left this CP by 13:45. Any runner that misses this cut off time will be transported back to the Finish. The final cut off time for the event is 9 hours/16:30.

Entry includes tracker hire so your family and friends can follow your progress around the route. We ask that every runner carries a fully charged Mobile phone (the mobile that is recorded on the entry form) and save the Event Emergency numbers into this phone.

All Marathon finishers receive the bespoke Grasmere Gallop Lakeland slate medal, free event photographs and more importantly cake...

Mandatory Kit List
The following items MUST be carried during the event. There will be a Kit Check for ALL runners at Registration and post race spot kit checks. Any runner found not to be carrying the FULL Mandatory Kit List will be disqualified. This rule is for the runners’ safety, which is our main priority.
