THE ROUTE 2024

From the start on Highgate Hill, up from Port & Starboard, turn right along Moorland Road before turning left towards Ruthvoes. Through Ruthvoes and loop back to Gnomeworld to enter the trail. Also, the site of the first & last water station.  Stay on the trail for approx. 2.5 miles to Toads Hole, the site of water station 2 & 3, then left into Tregoss village.  Turn right for a steady climb to Rosedown Kennels. Turn right to Pitsmingle where again you turn right to go back to Toads Hole and on to the trail. Exit at Gnomeworld, turn left and stay left until the marshal crosses you to the pavement towards Indian Queens and the finish at the working mens club. Be aware there are speed humps in the entrance to the club.

The trail section can be muddy and uneven but road shoes are fine.  You may encounter hazards such as cows, ponies, adders and ticks.  Please give all of them a wide berth.  Should you need to answer the call of nature, choose damp, shady areas. At the end of the race, check your skin for bites and seek medical advice if you are at all concerned.

All of the route is open to other users and the only part that is traffic free is the final 300 metres.

Cut off time is 3 hours.  After that, you will need to make your own way back. No dogs, cycles, pushchairs, walkers, and no outside assistance.  Not suitable for wheelchairs.

Guaranteed to be hot.  At the end of the race, we recommend that you avoid sprinting towards the finish line and, when you have crossed it, you continue to keep walking for at least 10 minutes.  Your heart will have been pumping hard and steady so a sudden increase or stop is dangerous.  Let yourself slow down gradually.  If you feel faint, lie down and raise your legs above your head or get help from the medical team.
