Cronkley Fell Race is a BM race; 17km with over 560m ascent. It is an out and back route across the scenic fells of Upper Teesdale, running parallel to the River Tees itself, beginning and finishing in the quiet hamlet of Holwick. It starts on the road to Holwick from Middleton-in-Teesdale, outside the Farmhouse Kitchen at Low Way Farm at 2:00pm, initially following the road onto a track and then out onto the open fell. After an undulating 6km the route heads down to an island in the River Tees, which is the turnaround point to begin the route back to Holwick.
This is a race for people who are over 18 years old, with fell running experience. Participants must be confident in running across rough terrain and have competent navigation skills as there are not always paths to follow on the fell section and none of the route is flagged.
Registration will be open from 12:30pm where you will collect your number and a map of the route (which is also available to download from the website). Please follow marshalls instructions for parking at the event. Your entry fee includes a chip buttie from the Farmhouse Kitchen where further drinks and refreshments will be available for purchase.
