Welcome to the LOC National Weekend Long Distance race at Holme Fell, near Coniston. A full range of courses will be available, including shorter & easier courses designed for newcomers and families.
The area has been resurveyed in 2024 by Martin Bagness using Lidar data & has complex rock & contour detail throughout the area with very few paths. There are traces of mining activity. The lower slopes are natural woodland with little undergrowth. The upper slopes are open runnable fell rising to 300m with fine views across the Lakeland Fells.
Suggested age classes for all courses are below:

Unsure which course to enter? The longer courses will all be technical courses, designed for experienced orienteers, not for beginners! The white and yellow courses are great for beginners and children, while the orange course will be a little more challenging.
As this is a National event, you will be asked to select your start time when entering this event. Please note all start times will remain masked online until after entries have closed. Please refer to your confirmation of entry email if you need to check your start time before then.
We encourage running in pairs or groups – it is a good way to start orienteering. To do this, enter the event using one person’s name (e.g. the junior in a junior + adult pair) and please add the names of everyone accompanying in the ‘Additional names and ages’ box when you enter. You can request extra maps, if required.
Full details are available on the LOC website at https://www.lakeland-orienteering.org.uk/events.
Everyone who attends must follow the ‘Participation Codes of Conduct’ which can be found at the British Orienteering website.
