Registration: 10:45-11:30am Gortin Glens Main Car Park
Race Start
:12pm
Distance: 12km
Ascent: 500m

Race numbers will be restricted to 150 people.
Online entries only. Entries will not be available on race day.
Minimum entry age is 18.

Route:
The Mullaghcarn Giant race hosted by Carmen Runners will start from the Gortin Glens car park at 12pm. The route will cover 12km distance and 500m total ascent. Runners will summit the most southerly peak of the Sperrins, Mullaghcarn (542m), where the Giant stands. The route continues down the bog, therefore trail shoes are advised. The course will be clearly marked and have marshals along the route.

A map of the course can be seen here: https://www.nimra.org.uk/index.php/events/event/mullaghcarn-giant-race/

Timing:
Timing will be using SI Cards (aka dibbers) and Control Boxes. At each checkpoint the card should be dipped into a hole on the control box.
All runners must report to the race control at the finish area and return their SI Cards, whether they have completed the course or not.

See here for an outline of the SPORTident timing system.

Race Kit:
Please make yourself aware of the essential kit list required to participate in a fell running race prior to entering. This will include: Hat/buff, gloves, waterproof jacket with hood (taped seams), waterproof bottoms (taped seams), foil blanket, fully charged mobile phone, whistle, emergency food. You should also have the means to carry all the kit in case required.

All runners must bring the above items to the race. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day, depending on conditions, and clearly advised at registration.

Please note walking poles, headphones or earbuds are not permitted in accordance with NIMRA race guidelines.

Retirements:
All retiring runners should report to the nearest marshal’s post (if possible), return by the safest, direct route and must report to the race organisers at the finish.
