Black Mountains MBO - Whitchurch near Ross on Wye
Another new location for this year's series where we will be exploring some familiar & some less familiar rights of way on either side of the River Wye. Expect some stunning scenery & great trails as you head out on the course from the easily accessible village HQ just off the A40 between Ross & Monmouth.
On the startline you will be given a fully marked waterproof OS map of the course area. You then need to plan a route to ride to as many checkpoints as you can & get back to base as close to the 3 hour time limit as possible.
The event area preview map will be sent out to all those on the mailing list two weeks prior to the event & the final instruction will be sent out the Friday before. It will also feature the preview map & other details relevant to the event.
When going through the entry process please ensure you add your BMBO Membership Number, if you are not yet a member you can still ride but your result will not count in the UK National League. To participate you will need the MapRun App on your Android or iPhone, or a Garmin Watch with the MapRunG App, or any GPS watch. The event ID will be sent out the day before the ride & the PIN code issued at the start. It's important not to enter the PIN code until you are ready to go as your time will start as as soon as you do so.
The App will not work as well if your phone is in your jacket front pocket, where you body is shielding it from the sky. For the best satellite coverage it is useful to have it stowed ideally on a handlebar mount, crossbar bag or in the top of your day sack.
