------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Join the 15th annual London City Race for a weekend of high quality orienteering across London.

  1. Day 1 - Burgess Park - Friday 13th September - start the weekend with an early evening event in Burgess Park. The park is a typical urban parkland with a mix of tree cover and grasslands with an extensive path network,  flower beds, a lake and a few buildings. The event centre for this day is at Trinity College Centre, Newent Close, London, SE15 6EF which is a short distance from the start and the finish. Starts from 17:00 to 18:45 with courses closing promptly at 19:30 - All participants must have left the Park by 19:30 as it closes at 20:00 - please select a start time block to ensure that you will achieve this.  Further details can be found here: Burgess Park
  2. Day 2 - City of London – Saturday 14th September – Take on the big challenge with a full distance urban event which returns to the City of London and the Barbican Centre, with its multi levels, offering an extensive, intricate mix of alleys and urban parks inter mixed with the challenge of the Barbican Centre. Start times are from 10:00 to 13:00 for all courses. Based out of the City of London School for Girls, St Giles Terrace, Wood Street, London, EC2Y 8BB. Part of City Race Euro Tour series and the UK Urban Orienteering League. London City Race 2024
  3. Day 3 - Ultra sprint race - Sunday 15th September – Finish the weekend with an Ultra Sprint Race at Waterlow Park, Highgate Hill, London, N6 5HG - an urban parkland on a steep hillside with spectacular views over the city and is landscaped with ponds, a wide variety of trees, colourful borders and grassy slopes. Competitors will run three heats on courses of approximately 1km with a high density of controls, including sections in a specially constructed maze. There will then be a set of finals involving all competitors. This high intensity orienteering will provide a challenge to all competitors and is a great spectacle to watch.  Further details and entry for this event is here: LOK Ultra Sprints

Classes

Classes and Course combinations for all the days are set out in the tables below. For Days 1 and 2 you can run your age group,  run up one or more age classes by selecting that age class or if you would like to run a Course which is shorter than your age class, you can run "down" by selecting the "Other" class on the Course you wish to run down on.

For Day 3, we request that you run your actual age class - there is no benefit in running up or down.

Prizes will be available for Saturday's race but only if you run your age class or run up one or more age classes.

Each course may be used for more than one age class and the way age classes are allocated to courses is different for each day - see the tables below.

Results will not be cumulative.

We are providing an accessible course on Days 1 and 2. Please note these are only for those who have mobility issues or parents with young children in a buggy.

Fees/Dates

Full details for these events, with links to other organising clubs, and in due course, the final details, can be found on our website at London City Race 2024. Please note Day 3 has an earlier closing date than Day 1 and 2 due to that events' logistics.

The deadline for ordering our unique O Top  for collection at the event is 9 August 2024, to allow for production in time for the event. However, we are also allowing purchase after this date until the end of the event where the tops will be  sent to you by post within two months of the event.
