Level D local orienteering event at Watermillock, near Dockray.

Maps will be printed on Thursday based on entries at midnight on Wednesday. Any entries after midnight Wednesday will only be available subject to the number of extra maps we print - in other words there will be restrictions on entry numbers once course maps have been printed.

For Yellow/Novice and Orange courses there will be some entry on the day, subject to map availability (£8 senior, £3 junior).

Courses (indicative length)
Green                          c.4.3 km
Short Green              c.3.1 km
Very Short Green    **See note below
Orange                       c.2.4 km
Yellow/Novice          c.1.8 km

**Very Short Green - this is the same course as Short Green but with some controls missed out. If you want to do Very Short Green, enter Short Green and pick up a Short Green Map at the start. The map will show which controls to miss. You can decide while on the course whether to take the Very Short Green cut-off.

Map: All courses use a 1:7,500 scale map. 5m contours. Control Descriptions will be printed on the front of the map.

Groups and Pairs / Extra Maps: If you are new to orienteering and would like to go round as a group or in a pair, just enter one person and use the option to select any additional maps that your group would like at £1 each.

Dibber Hire: Available by pre-order at no charge, £30 if not returned. To pre-order, leave the SI number blank during entry process, and then collect dibber from Enquiries/Download on the day.

Start and Finish: Start between 11:00 and 12:30. The start and finish are located approximately 2km from the car park. The walk to the start will be taped. The start and finish boxes need to be punched, but all other boxes will be SIAC enabled.

Facilities: Portaloo at parking. There will be a BL picnic at the event; bring refreshments and a chair.

Terrain: Steep open fell with complex contour and rock detail, some marshy sections. Shorter courses on lower slopes.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs on leads are allowed in the car parking field. On the course they must be on a lead.

Safety: Whistles are compulsory. Cagoules may be compulsory subject to weather conditions. Shorts may be worn, but note that there is some marsh vegetation across the area. Check for ticks after running. There will be a first aid kit at the start. Competitors with an existing medical condition are invited to leave details in a sealed envelope at registration.

Entry Cancellation / Change: If you are unable to make the event please let us know via the email address.  If we are informed by the closing date we will provide a refund less £1 per person to cover admin costs. Before the closing date you can change your course by editing your entry online, but there will be no changes of course on the day.
