BL Bampton Common Long-O

The car park is High Howe Farm ( NY491192, W3W: necklace.waggled.pillow), 4km SW of Helton. The start and finish are both within 100m of the car park. Portaloo in the car park.

 

Terrain: Open fell with generally good runability, but there are some marshy sections that can be hard going particularly after wet weather. It is mostly grassy but with patches of bracken (mapped) and low heather. There are sections of rock and contour detail..

 

>  Long 17.9km, 790m climb

>  Medium 12.8km, 600m climb

>  Short 7.6km, 320m climb 

>  Very Short 5.0km, 190m climb

>  Super Short 3.7m, 130m climb

 

Map: 1:12,500 for Long and Medium. 1:10,000 for Short and Very Short, 1:7500 for Super Short

 

Entries: Close 28th August. Some late entry will be available subject to map availability but you must contact the organisers ( BLdanandkaren@gmail.com ) in advance to confirm. There will be no entry on the day. Dibber hire is  available at no charge  - just leave the SI number blank when entering, and collect the dibber on the day.

 

Start Times: 10:00 – 12:00, but if you are doing the Long course try to start before 11am (unless you know you are very fast!).

 

Courses Close: 3:30

 

Dogs: Permitted in the car park and on courses but must be on a lead

 

Pairs: You are very welcome to run as a pair. Enter both of you, start and finish at the same time and let the organisers know you want to appear as a pair in the results.

 

Refreshments: Free tea and cake at the finish
