Make the most of the dark nights!

An immersive session (18.30 - 22:00) of getting to grips with the fundamentals of night / poor visibility navigation and putting them into use. This course assumes you have prior understanding / experience of basic map and compass navigation. You will gain additional knowledge to hone your navigation including;:

• Compass bearings and moving on bearings at night.
• Pacing
• Locating / relocating yourself on the map using the clues around you
• Following a route (micronavigation principles)
• Developing a calm and rational mindset and trusting your map and compass.

Plus many other tips and tricks.

The course will take place entirely outdoors on the Eastern Moors (Peak District) South West of Sheffield. Exact location will be communicated the week before (depending on local ground conditions).

This will be a complementary mix of theory / practical training so ensure you are wearing suitable clothing / footwear relative to the conditions and moving over uneven terrain...in the dark! We will be moving at a walking pace rather than running.

If you have your own compass bring it along. If not we do have some you can borrow.
