Starting from Abbot Hall Social Centre (SD516923) at 8am. A super winter walk/run, with some pretty scenery. The route encircles the Lyth Valley and includes Scout Scar, Cunswick Scar and Whitbarrow Scar.
Event Rules: Throughout the event all entrants must carry or wear, as appropriate, the following: Route description; maps (OS Outdoor Leisure 7 English Lakes SE or OS 1:50,000 Sheet 97); compass; whistle; survival bag; first-aid kit; emergency food and drink; spare warm clothing; waterproof and windproof upper clothing and trousers; footwear suitable for rough walking in winter conditions. (Please bring a mug.)
Route Information: distance 23 miles. Ascent 3,200ft. CUT OFF TIME 3pm at Levens Checkpoint.
Safety: Entrants must follow the route, checking in at all checkpoints. Anyone planning to retire must do so at a checkpoint. All starters including any who have retired must report in to the finish. LDWA marshals are authorised to short route or retire anyone failing to comply with the event rules or who in their opinion is unfit to continue. We will accept entrants aged 16 and 17 provided they are walking with a parent or guardian aged 18 or over, and are LDWA members.
LDWA membership: Please note that entries will initially be open to LDWA members only. Entries will be opened to non-members on 1st December 2024. You can now join the LDWA via SiEntries and receive the cheaper member's rate. If doing this then please join the LDWA first, as you will then be issued with an LDWA Membership number. Please then come back and enter this event and quoting your new membership number to get the member's discount.
