Specifically designed to help you deal with mountain navigation for Mountain Trail and Mountain Marathon running
Looking to develop your navigation for events such as the Lakeland Sanders Mountain Marathon, The OMM or OMM Lite or other mountain trail events that require good navigation skills?
Hugh Chatfield, winner of numerous events and elite competitor in the OMM is ready to take you on a single day journey all about mountain trail navigation.

- Any ultra or trail runner who wants to get a better understanding of navigation using a map & compass
- For use when planning your trail runs for you and your friends
- Personal use for venturing into the fells & mountains
- Trail runners who want to feel more confident and safe running in the mountains
Course program
Date: Sunday 9th March 2024
Time: 09:00
Meeting place: The Climbers Shop, Ambleside, LA22 9DS
Details:
- 09:00 - Meet and greet
- 09:15 - Around 1.5 hours theory in a local cafe or Rothay Park if the weather is fine
- 11:45 - Break for Snack/early Lunch - or very likely lunch/snacks on the fell
12:15 - 4 hour plus practical navigation session navigating on trails based around Rothay Park, Loughrigg and Silver Howe - 16:15 - Course closes (be prepared to overrun slightly)
The course is based around the trails and fells near Ambleside. Conditions dependant.
