Broadland Country Park and it's neighboring woodlands offers a variety of different types of forest to contend with from open and runable silver birch, blocks of oak and chestnut; to mature forestry plantations. Mixed in with this are areas of open heathland, marshes, and heavily pollarded deciduous blocks. Although mercifully free of brambles and nettles, there is significant bracken growth underfoot and large areas of marsh making the terrain fairly physical.
It would be advised that competitors familiarise themselves with the map symbols for the varying degree of marsh severity - the worst of which will be marked as OOB on the map yet it is well advised not to attempt to cross them!

The Yvette Baker Trophy and Shield are the premier junior inter-club competitions for English and Welsh orienteering clubs with regional heats and a national final. This is the regional heat for the East Anglian area.
