This race is suitable for runners of all standards – if you don’t mind how long you take, we don’t either, though a good level of fitness is required. Runners must be aged 17 years or older on the day of the race.
Trophies are awarded to the first male and female athletes. Awards will be presented in the following categories: SM, SW, Fastest Arran Local, First Team of 3.
The event is organised jointly between Arran Runners and Shiskine Valley Improvements and the registration, start and end will be at Blackwaterfoot Playing Field - NOT Kinloch Hotel. To this end, there are no changing or showering facilities provided, although these may be available at a small charge on advance enquiry to Kinloch Hotel - 01770 860444. Please note, the hotel will be very busy and athletes will not be permitted to use facilities without agreement from the hotel management beforehand.
Competitors travelling on the day can catch the 09:45 ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick and return on the 16:40 or 19:20 ferries to Ardrossan, or travel via Troon if these times are more suitable. We recommend that you book, even as a foot passenger, and if you're bringing a car, it is advisable to book well in advance. For further information contact www.calmac.co.uk. There is a 322 service bus departs at 1055 from the ferry terminal at Brodick and arrives in Blackwaterfoot at 1125 in plenty of time for registration. A return bus leaves Blackwaterfoot at 1540 in time for the 1640 sailing to Ardrossan. The service bus takes contactless payment.
There will be at least 5 water stations on the course which is marked at every mile. Please note this is a road race, and the course is not closed to traffic, so for reasons of safety, headphones are not permitted. Medical cover will be provided by ABC Arran. There is a public toilet in Blackwaterfoot and any bags etc can be left securely with us on the field.
Event starts at 12noon, registration is at the playing field, right in the centre of the village, from 11am, and timekeeping will be carried out by Keep It Simple Timing.
Due to this event being run by the community, there will be no refunds given, sorry...but you will have a great day!
