The UEA campus has been used for sprint orienteering in the past but has never before been the venue of a major event. The combination of density of buildings, unusual architecture, and raised walkways with passageways beneath make this a technically challenging area that is perfect for the sprint orienteering format.

In the morning, competitors run a heat (qualification) race which determines their start time in the afternoon final race, and also determines if they qualify to run in an "A" final in which they can win a championship medal, or a "B" final in which runners cannot win a medal.

BO ranking points are awarded separately for the heat races and the finals.  Runners are eligible for ranking points irrespective of which final race (A or B) they run in.

The timetable for the day is yet to be finalised, but we expect heat starts to operate from about 10am to 11:30am, and Finals starts to commence at around 2pm.   The constraints of the event format mean that start times cannot be selected by entrants nor can individual early/late preferences be taken into account.  We will however make provision for parental split starts.

Please bear all this in mind when planning your travel arrangements.

Entry to BSC 2025 is open only to members of British Orienteering and to members of overseas IOF-affiliated Federations.

To be eligible to be a British Champion, an individual competitor must on the day immediately preceding the event be a member of British Orienteering, and either:

  • be a British citizen,
  • or have been a member of British Orienteering in each of the three membership years preceding the year of the competition,
  • and must compete in their correct age class, or in the appropriate Open Class

Please note that all age classes (18 and over) will have seeded start times based on the 2025 BOF ranking list as it stands when start times are allocated. Highest ranked competitors will start last.  Junior classes MW14 and MW16 will have start times based on the 2025 Junior Seeding list.  Younger juniors will have randomly allocated start times within a start block.
