Local Tay event with beautiful views in a wonderful area...
Moncrieffe Hill has a good path network in mixed woodland with open areas and some steep slopes and sections of fallen trees. Some nice runnable areas but some rougher areas under foot too. Good gripping footwear is recommended on most courses but not essential. Suitable for all abilities with technical challenge for more experienced orienteers.
If you are not sure which is the best course for you the following guidance should help. Course lengths will be subject to final changes and will be confirmed in final details:
Yellow (2.3km) is the easiest course and all on tracks and paths. It is good for younger/ primary age children accompanied by an adult or younger children who are regular orienteers.
Orange (2.8km) is great for adult beginners and more confident youngsters ( age 12 plus).
Light Green (3.4km) is more complex and aimed at adult beginners and more confident youngsters ( age 12 plus).
Short Green (2.5km) is for those with some orienteering and navigation experience but a less physical course.
Green (4.5km) is for experienced navigators and regular orienteers.
Blue (5.4km) is for experienced orienteers and strong navigators.
The start block is between 12.30pm and 2pm. You can start at anytime within that period. Courses close at 4pm.
Moncrieffe Hill is popular with dog walkers and occasional mountain bikers so please take care and be considerate to other users.
