Welcome to THE LAP DOUBLE-TAP.
THE LAP Double-tap is a 100 mile Ultra Trail around Lake Windermere.
Open to runners, THE DOUBLE-TAP is held on fully marked trails with numourous feed stations. A 36 hour cut-off makes a great introduction to longer races, or a fast low level option for experienced racers.
Competitors will have 36 hours to circumnavigate England's largest and most iconic lake in both directions, taking in all the best view points on some of the most beautiful trails The Lake District has to offer.
THE LAP was born when an old, forgotten map fell out of a stack of guides on the shelf. Full of scribbles and crossings out, this became the blueprint for the race we have today. The progression to THE DOUBLETAP was as natural as the trails we run on.
When planning every step of THE DOUBLETAP, the question we asked ourselves was always, does it flow? Forget the distance, forget whether its an Ultra, where does the route take us?
The route is predominantly on tracks and trails, with some sections of single track and steeper fell paths and occasional unavoidable short sections of quiet country road.
This is a low level route and so is an ideal introduction to off road distance running and will also mean we can go ahead, whatever the weather!
A recce GPX file of the will be sent out to entrants after Christmas and the event GPX with special permissive routes will be sent out in the final email before the event.
