An afternoon sprint event in Fellgate Estate, Jarrow. The event will be the first in support of a series of three events held over the weekend of the Queens Anniversary in June. Other events include the Stockton Riverside Sprint event on Saturday and the Newcastle City Urban event on Sunday.
Fellgate Estate is an area new to orienteering and is a complex, compact urban estate with no through traffic and many footpaths. There are some roads, but these only serve the residents and are normally quiet. The area is generally flat with little or no height climb.
Each competitor will have the opportunity to enter 2 sprints within their chosen category (course 1, 2 or 3). The second course will have a chasing start, with the leaders from the first course starting first. You will be given your second course start time when you download after your first course. The times for the two sprints will then be combined to give a final result for each runner.
