New members joining for the first time on or after 1 November in any year - your membership will be valid for the remainder of that year AND for the following 12 months. In such circumstances, Eden Runners will pay your national England Athletics (EA) registration fee for the following year, which becomes due on April 1st. For example - if you join the club for the first time on or after Nov 1 2024, your club membership subscription will be valid until the end of 2025 - effectively you will have up to 14 months club membership for the price of 12. In this example, out of your (currently £30) membership fee, Eden Runners would pay your EA reg fees (£19 currently, increasing to £20 next yr) for the athletics year 2025-26, which would be paid directly by the club to EA on or soon after April 1st 2025.
Eden Runners are based in Penrith, Cumbria. Our membership ranges across all abilities, from GB athletes to slower walk-runners, ages range from 18 to 80+ (plus a very popular Juniors section ).
We welcome all runners, whether you are just starting out, coming back from absence through injury or circumstance, or looking for some company for a social run or targeting / training for a specific event. And of course we all know that the social aspect is just as important - you can expect a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
We run sessions in the evenings, in the daytime and at weekends on the roads, on the fells, trails and cross country – we have a session for you!
Membership includes:
- Access to all club training sessions & social events
- Your national Registration Fees (mandatory) paid with England Athletics – currently £19 per annum.
- The right to represent the club in any races you take part in.
- Use of Penrith Rugby Club car park, showers and bar facilities on winter Wednesday evening Club nights
- Subsidised club kit
- Subsidies towards relevant UKA-recognised coaching courses for members who want to contribute regularly to running club training sessions
For those already registered with England Athletics via another club, and who wish to retain that other club as their ‘first claim’ club, then we offer 'second-claim' membership at a reduced annual cost. In such cases, your first claim club will retain responsibility for your registration fees with EA, and that will be your represented club in race competition. That apart, you will have largely the same benefits as first-claim members.
