Thank you for entering the race.
Please tell all your friends that they can still enter online until 22:00 on Saturday evening so there's no excuse for wanting to enter on the day! There are no entries on the day. Please re-read the event details HERE.
We are really grateful to the 14 marshals who have given up their time to help us mark the course beforehand and to support the race on Sunday. Without you, the race would not be possible. Thanks also to Lowther Castle, Lowther Estate and Jimmy Hodgson for hosting the event and allowing us to cross their land.
The forecast is for WARM 21C with low probability of rain.
PLEASE CARRY A LIGHTWEIGHT RAINTOP. This will also protect you in case you have an accident which incapacitates you and you need to slow down or stop. It doesn't need to have taped seams. We recommend you take a bit of emergency food. Map, compass, hat, gloves and waterproof trousers are NOT required.
There are no safe sources of drinking water on the course. There will be a limited supply of water at two checkpoints en route at approx 9.5KM and 14.5KM. Please only drink one cup at each checkpoint so that there is enough for the tail enders.
If you don't think you can complete 20KM without a number of drinks, please ensure that you carry sufficient water with you. There will be water at the Finish.
PLEASE BRING SAFETY PINS FOR YOUR RACE NUMBER.
Follow signs to Lowther Castle & Gardens - CA10 2HG. As you drive down the avenue to the castle, marshals will show you where to park in the Overflow Car Park which is clearly indicated with a yellow sign pointing LEFT.
The Event Hub is an 8 minute walk from parking. Follow signs to the Castle and then you'll see our race signage taking you to the right and the front of the Castle.
There are toilets in the Castle Courtyard.
Please come to register anytime from 09:00 and don't leave it till the last minute! The event is a Mass Start at 11:00 and the route is fully marked. There are marshals at key points on the route. The Start and Finish are near the Registration Tent. You run out under the gatehouse arch, down the long treelined avenue and back through the arch to Finish.
You can see a map of the route here and a gps track of a competitor on the 2018 race here. There are now a few very minor differences but just follow the markings and you will be fine. Debbie tweaked the route two years ago so that when you climb up through the nick onto Knipe Scar, you immediately turn right and run along the edge. We think this is nicer.
You won't get any times or appear on the results until your SI-Card has been downloaded. SI-Cards MUST be handed in to the organising team ON THE DAY at the FINISH even if you retire during the event. This is an essential safety requirement of the event and avoids an unnecessary search. Failure to hand back your SIAC will incur a charge of £50 and could disqualify you from taking part in a future event. Enough of the hard words!
Our local brewery Eden River Brew Company has provided beer at a preferential rate. Everyone will receive a bottle of Aurum or Fuggles at the Finish. Andrew Hunter from Eden River Brew Co writes "we are delighted to be supplying beers for this fantastic event. Good luck to all the runners, we hope you enjoy a well deserved beer after the event"

There will be a scrolling results screen at the Finish. If you come to download in the order you complete the race, your overall position and the position in your age category that you see on your splits print will be accurate. We will load results online every few minutes. There is a QR Code on the bottom of your splits print and if you scan it, you will be taken directly to our online results - mobile signal permitting!
Results will be available at:
Prizes (also beer) will be awarded as follows:

Lowther Castle Cafe and courtyard are only 75M away and will be open all day. There are options for your friends and family to visit the gardens while you are racing. See https://lowthercastle.org/. You don't need to purchase tickets to visit the cafe or loos!
We are looking forward to seeing you at the event.

PS
For those of you who use Facebook, Twitter, Strava, Instagram, Attackpoint or Power of 10, SiEntries and SPORTident Timing/Results have teamed up to provide some Social Media add-ons that will help participants in an event to communicate with each other more easily. If you visit the Update My Details page, you can add or amend your social media ID's. This means that when you see your name on any SiEntries Entry List, your social media icons will appear by your name. You can easily get to know more about your fellow competitors and communicate with them. But more importantly, when you are looking at SPORTident Results, you'll see social media icons there too and this provides an opportunity to engage in some post event banter with your mates. Click here to see an example of how social media icons are displayed on the results from a recent event.
