Mills n Moors Series 

Join us as we celebrate some of the best trails that radiate from the Piece Hall in Halifax out into the surrounding valleys. 

The November event has three routes for you to choose from.  A short 'blue' grade route at 29km, a 'red' grade route at 38km and a 'black' grade route at 65km suitable for experienced mtbers/E-MTBs and experienced gravel bike riders"

The December event has a 'red' grade route at 45km and a 'black' grade route at 50km with extra elevation!

You will receive all gpx route files in the week leading up to the event.  Each route is self-guided with no way markings or flags showing the trail.  A map of the broad route can be found on the Yorkshire Divide website.

Event details

• Register on the Sunday between 8.30am - 10am (NO 'on the day entry')
• Cycle Gear, an independent bike shop at 68 Horton Street, Halifax, HX1 1QE
• Pick up your embroidered cloth badge
• Enjoy a relaxed tea / coffee / cake inside the bike shop
• Have a look around the bike shop and use your 15% discount voucher
• Head off when you're ready as there is NO ‘mass start’
• The start line is at the front of the shop at 68 Horton Street, HX1 1QE
• Any gravel bike / mountain bike /  E-bike is welcome and would get you around the route

• Halifax town center has several options for car/van parking with the  Woolshops parking (near M&S) £2.50 for the first two hours, £3.50 for the next two hours, £5.00 for the next four hours, and £9.00 for 6–24 hours.

The ride

The rides on the 'Mills n Moors Series' are a personal challenge. They are not races.  There is no ‘mass start', the route is NOT way marked and there is no rescue vehicle.

We ride on bridleways, forest tracks, urban greenways and the canal towpath.  Some downhill and uphill sections are physically challenging and there are tracks across open moorland but the routes are NOT techy enduro or downhill mtb style routes. 

Group social ride

There is an option to join a small group ride which departs at 10.10am from the bike shop. There is no fixed speed we cycle at. We will be stopping and waiting for each other at the top of the many hills and we take turns opening the many gates! Minimum age of 18 years old on the group ride.  Any working mtb / e-bike / gravel bike welcome.

It should be note that there the group social ride will take between 3-5 hours and it is not a 'guided' ride. It is not lead by a profession/qualified outdoor instructor and there is no mechanical backup except the fixing of the occasional puncture.  NB:  there is no personal and /or bike insurance provided on this event.
