Mills n Moors Series
Join us as we celebrate some of the best trails that radiate from the Piece Hall in Halifax out into the surrounding valleys.
The December event takes us east into the Shibden Valley and Spen Valley with three routes: a 'blue' grade at 24km, a 'red' grade at 49km and a 'black' grade at 69km.
The routes are graded by distance and elevation with the types of the 'off-road' tracks and lanes similar across all three routes. The 'black' route takes much steeper lanes and tracks and so will suit experienced gravel riders and mtbers used to strenuous activity.
You will receive all gpx route files in the week leading up to the event. Each route is self-guided with no way markings or flags showing the trail. A map of the broad route can be found on the Yorkshire Divide website.
Event details
The ride
The rides on the 'Mills n Moors Series' are a personal challenge. They are not races. There is no ‘mass start', the route is NOT way marked and there is no rescue vehicle.
We ride on bridleways, forest tracks, urban greenways and the canal towpath. Some downhill and uphill sections are physically challenging and there are tracks across open moorland but the routes are NOT techy enduro or downhill mtb style routes.
Group social ride
There is an option to join a small group ride which departs at 10.10am from the bike shop. There is no fixed speed we cycle at. We will be stopping and waiting for each other at the top of the many hills and we take turns opening the many gates! Minimum age of 18 years old on the group ride. Any working mtb / e-bike / gravel bike welcome.
It should be note that there the group social ride will take between 3-5 hours and it is not a 'guided' ride. It is not lead by a profession/qualified outdoor instructor and there is no mechanical backup except the fixing of the occasional puncture. NB: there is no personal and /or bike insurance provided on this event.
