If you have any queries about the following Terms and Conditions, please contact us.
Health and Safety
Your safety is our priority and we have a duty of care to all participants, organisers, marshals and members of the public as well as ensuring we respect our environment.
Please note that we abide by UKAthletics rules and Marathon/Ultra competitors must be 18 years of age or older on race day, Half Marathon (up to 25K) competitors 17+ and 10K runners 16+. For cycle sportives, riders must be 18 and over, unless by prior arrangement and accompanied by an adult.
Notwithstanding our legal responsibilities for your safety, you enter our events at your own risk and must be physically and mentally capable of completing the race distance you have signed up for. Medical support will be available but it is your responsibility to look after yourself and others. During the race, Marshals will be on hand to assist you and there will be regular aid stations where fluids/nutrition will be available. Prior to the race, please ensure you are healthy and injury free.
If you withdraw or change your route for any reason, then you must make this aware to a marshal at your earliest convenience. Please be prepared for the race with adequate clothing, footwear and fluid/nutrition/medication if necessary.
We mitigate risk as best we can by completing a thorough risk assessment of each course and, where practically possible, ensuring awareness of unexpected hazards. Signs will be in place where deemed necessary, but absence of one does not denote low risk. Participants may need to control their speed in certain sections and if they deem any part unsafe, it is their decision whether to proceed or not. Trail running, by its nature, will always have some risk due to the terrain, inclement weather, road crossings and the unpredictable. No responsibility for mishap will lie with the race directors, volunteers or any third parties involved with the event.
Race day
Please where possible car share or use public transport to attend the event. When parking, be mindful of others and ensure event car parks are used and not verges/side roads. Permissions are granted for these events on the condition that we are as respectful as possible to members of the public, who will also be visiting our lovely locations. Arrive in good time for your event.
Your personal belongings are your responsibility, please keep them safe. Bag drops are often available but are not secure so we recommend you don’t leave valuable items there.
Your chipped race number must be worn and visible at all times. Please bring your own safety pins to secure. If you retire early from the race then a BigFeat marshal must be made aware so we do not send out a search party! Course maps are available on our website in advance, please familiarise yourselves.
Environment
We are passionate about our natural environment. Please help us protect the countryside and coastline by not discarding any drinks containers, gel packets etc except into appropriate rubbish bags. Plan ahead so you can carry your rubbish with you during the event if necessary. Please ensure all gates are closed behind you to protect livestock and as a courtesy to the land owners.
Refunds, transfers, deferments
In the rare and unfortunate situation of an event being cancelled prior to the start due to a Force Majeure, there will be the option of a transfer to the rescheduled race, transfer to the same race next year or transfer to another of our equivalently priced races.
Entry fees cannot be refunded. Transfers to the same event will be permitted free of charge up to 3 days before the event. Please email info@bigfeatevents.com.
Deferments to the same race next year will be possible if you can no longer participate. The deadline for deferments is 7 days prior to race date.
Privacy
Participants grant the right for BigFeat Events to use and publish any photographs or video of the race for promotional purposes. Your results will be posted on our website and will constitute name, gender, time, age-group and club.
